SALEM GARDEN CLUB PROGRAM
2006~2007

Please note meeting dates carefully. A * indicates a change from usual 1st Thursday date. Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings take place at the First Church in Salem, 316 Essex Street. Refreshments are served at 7:00 PM, and the meeting starts promptly at 7:30. There are no meetings in January, July, and August.

All members are needed for this annual major fundraising event. Enjoy, share, and learn from the creativity of fellow garden club members. Participants may make purchases at the workshop.

Bring: your workshop kit: wire cutters, floral cutters, wire, scissors, paper, pencil, and plenty of energy.

Ten Hours Until Dawn

A True Story
Presenter: Author Michael Tougias
Until the writing of this book, little was known of this story of peril at sea just off the Salem shore during the Blizzard of 1978. Using slides of the boats, the men involved and photos of the storm, Tougias will take the viewer through this incredible night where many lives hung in the balance. The book will be available for purchase and signing.

Art in Bloom- Museum of Fine Arts

In April, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the MFA Associates host Art in Bloom which is floral interpretations of the Museum’s masterpieces done by various members of the Massachusetts garden clubs. In 2006, Sue Ballou and Paula Contilli represented our club and did a magnificent job.

The Basics of Orchids

An introduction to growing and caring for orchids along with the best places to purchase these exotic plants. A variety of blooming orchids will be used to enhance the presentation. Also there will be a raffle of two orchid plants.
