House Tour

Salem Garden Club members decorate one of the tour houses on the Christmas in Salem House Tour. We garnish the selected home in accordance with the house’s style and time period. Decorations are handmade by the Garden club members. They consist of fresh greeneries, floral arrangements, tree trimmings, and window dressings that emphasis the elegance and grace of the Historic Salem home.

Spring Luncheon

The Salem Garden Club opened its 2007-2008 programs with a FALL FANTASY luncheon held at the Danversport Yacht Club. The location was perfect, the fare delicious, and our guest speaker Bill Graham, always outstanding. He created gorgeous floral arrangements and complemented them with his latest fall fashion accessories

Garden Tour

The seaside garden tour, held by the Salem Garden Club along with the Women’s Friend Society on a beautiful summer day in July was a huge success. The gardens overlooked the Salem Willows coastline, providing the public view of 17 magnificent private gardens. Included in this tour was the opportunity to visit the former Smith Pool, which is now a State Biology lab and hatchery that has made significant contributions to the economic, environmental and educational interest of both the North Shore and the Commonwealth. Jim McAllister, Salem’s local historian, provided an entertaining talk on the history of the “Willows”. Stay tuned, the SGC is planning another garden tour for 2009.

Newport Flower Show

On June 27 th, forty seven members of the Salem Garden Club had the opportunity to attend the Newport, RI Flower Show at Rosecliff, a breathtakingly beautiful Newport mansion surrounded by spectacular gardens. Members toured the lovely gardens which included the Gardner’s Marketplace with rare specialty plants, flower stalls, and essential garden accessories. We savored lunch at Fathom’s Restaurant located at the Newport Marriot while enjoying the sensational harbor views. Afterwards, we ventured off to Marble House, a mansion once owned by the Vanderbilt’s. It was a glorious day!
